According to an announcement made directly by Apple, on Tuesday 10 July 2012, Apple’s third-generation (also known as iPad 3 or the New iPad) iPad will arrive in China on 20 July 2012.
The new iPad is coming to China after a long wait. Apple said:
Apple today announced the new iPad, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, will arrive in China on Friday, July 20.
In recent days, many reports had indicated that Apple would formally release the new iPad in China on 27 July 2012. Following months of unanticipated and unknown delays, many believe that Apple’s recent settlement with Proview over the iPad trademark was the final hurdle that needed to be jumped before the tablet could be released to consumers.
Thanks to the wave of jingoistic feelings that Chinese judiciary and government have, Proview did succeed in extorting a huge amount from Apple. An amount that Proview would never earn as a revenue on its own.
Beginning next Friday, the new iPad will be available for purchase at the six official Apple stores in China. Apart from these, Suning electronics, a prominent Chinese consumer electronics retailer, which has stores all across the nation, will also sell the New iPad.
At the time of this news report being written, it is not known whether the 4G model of the new iPad will be released in China.
