In an impressive showing, Apple has overtaken Samsung as the largest mobile phone vendor in the US, reports say. Apple has managed this feat in the fourth quarter of 2013, after the launch of the iPhone 5.
According to Strategy Analytics, a research firm, Apple shipped 17.7 million mobile phones achieving a record 34 percent share of the US market in the fourth quarter of 2012, making the Cupertino based company the No. 1 mobile phone vendor by volume for the first time ever.
This sounds even more impressive considering that Apple sells only high end Smartphones, as opposed to Samsung, which sells budget models as well. Samsung had been the No.1 mobile phone vendor in the US since 2008, until Apple snatched its crown
