Are you experiencing Wi-Fi problems with your new iPad? If yes, you are not the only one. According to some recent online reposts, hundreds of new iPad owners have taken to Apple’s online support forums complaining of the issue.
9TO5 Mac has gotten its hands on an internal Apple memo (shared on this page), instructing retail employees to “capture” affected devices, which means send them in to Apple for inspection and replace them under warranty.
It seems that this issue is affecting third-generation Wi-Fi iPads (also known as iPad 3 or new iPad). Symptoms of this issue include intermittent connectivity, slow data speeds, and inability to see Wi-Fi networks.
Here is one user’s explanation of the bug:
“I am in a hotel with my laptop and new iPad 3. The laptop Wi-Fi reception is as strong as it gets, but the iPad only registers a weak signal. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?”
If you are experiencing Wi-Fi problems with your new iPad, you should take it in to your local Apple Store. If they determine that the issue is not software-related, it sounds like they will replace it on the spot.
