We reported earlier that Apple would open a store in Amsterdam in March 2012.
The time to open the new store is hours away at the time of this report being written.
On 1 March 2012, Apple unveiled their new flagship retail store in Amsterdam at a press event. The new store will be located on the ground floor and mezzanine of the Hirsch building at the Leidseplein.
The building will hold 300 employees capable of serving customers in 14 different languages. The store is complete with the world’s largest Genius Bar, measuring 20 meters in length. The location will include EasyPay self-checkout capabilities for those buying accessories through the App Store. It even has a Briefing Room.
Photographer Rogier Visser captured a number of photos during the press event. The design of the new store is reminiscent of Apple’s Grand Central Station location and it is a perfect amalgamation of old and new. The juxtaposition of bleeding edge technology and historical artifice give the impression a surreal retail experience. Floor plan is massive, with row after row of MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, and other Apple paraphernalia.
The store will open up to the public on Saturday, 3 March 2012, at morning 10 AM.
