Apple and Samsung maybe over each others’ throat due to several lawsuits of patents infringement they filed against each other. However, if rumors are to be believed, lawsuits do not stop Apple and Samsung from doing business together.
The new iPad is expected to come out this Friday. Yet rumors regarding a 7.85” model iPad are already flying and going strong.
The Korean Times published claims made by an unnamed Samsung source that Apple will purchase $11 billion in components from Samsung by the end of 2012. This is up from the $9.7 billion outlined in the current contract between the two companies. The source claimed that a portion of that $11 billion will be going toward 7.85” displays.
“Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen, and to sell more of its MacBook Air PCs using Samsung’s faster solid state drive storage,” unnamed executive-level source.
The source claimed that Samsung is looking forward to be the first company to supply Apple with Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays for use in iDevices.
“Apple has the intent to use Samsung’s OLED technology, however, Apple doubts the output commitment for OLED screens by Samsung,” unnamed executive-level source.
