Apple Updates iMovie to 8.0.5, Introducing a New Video Format
Apple today released a software update for iMovie called 8.0.5. The new version delivers compatibility enhancements with a number of devices and addresses some bugs, but most interesting is that it introduces a new Apple designed video format, called “iFrame.”
The iFrame video format is intended camcorders and is designed to speed up importing and editing by keeping the content in its native recorded format. iFrame is based on H.264 video format and AAC Audio, and earlier today Sanyo unveiled a new camcorder which features the new iFrame video format.
Besides the new video format, iMovie 8.0.5 also improves compatibilities with importing video captures on the new iPod Nano, and it fixes problems with resizing the iMovie window during playback.
