Months ago, we reported that Apple and its partner Foxconn had been given tax exemptions to manufacture iPad in Brazil which would be cheaper than imported iPad and create jobs for local people.
Now recent reports are suggesting that suggest that second-generation iPads(iPad 2) manufactured in Brazil will be released by Apple very soon. Online sources say that the locally produced 16GB iPad 2 has already received the proper certification and is awaiting market introduction in Brazil.
Although Apple already sells the iPad 2 in Brazil, the 16GB model will be the only class of iPad 2 that remains in production once the third-generation iPad becomes available there. Apple CEO Tim Cook saw Brazil as a significant market. Beyond introduction to the Brazilian market, it is unclear how soon it will be before Brazil-produced products are shipped elsewhere in the world.
