According to a news report in Chinese financial magazine Caixin, a group of nine Chinese authors has filed a lawsuit against Apple Inc for 11.9 million yuan ($1.9 million) in compensation. Chinese authors alleged that Apple was providing copyright-infringing books for download through its online store.
The group behind the lawsuit had been lobbying Apple for months to remove copyright-infringing books from its App Store.
Caixing reported that The group of authors, under the mantle of the China Written Works Copyright Society (CWWCS), sued Apple in Beijing’s No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court, accusing Apple of the copyright infringement of 37 works.
