Exploding European iPhones prompt Apple-led investigation

A French teen was recently injured when his girlfriend’s iPhone exploded, sending a shard of glass into one of his eyes. The teen stated that the iPhone made a “hissing noise” before exploding.

This incident, along with several others, has led Apple to launch an investigation into what they believe to be “isolated” incidents.

An unnamed spokesperson for Apple Europe Ltd stated, “we are aware of these (media) reports and we are waiting to receive the iPhones from the customers. Until we have the full details, we don’t have anything further to add.”
