Now this is a disadvantage of popularity that Apple has to (and will have to) deal with. There is no dearth of fake apps on App Store.
Following the trend of creating fake apps, some developers create a crappy application, name it after a popular jailbreak app, and hope people would mistakenly buy it for $0.99.
Now we have come across a similar Activator impostor.
Most of you know that Activator is a popular jailbreak tweak by Ryan Petrich. This jailbreak tweak allows you to toggle settings and perform other tasks via customizable actions and gestures.
However Activator, the fake app that is in the App Store, is not anything like that. It certainly looks like it — the screenshots in iTunes are actually of Petrich’s app. But reviews from users say that it is nothing more than a low quality wallpaper-maker.
At the time of this news report being written, there is no disclaimer or warning in the app’s description that says that it is unrelated to the jailbreak tweak.
Thus, we are showing you the link of this fake app at the bottom of this page so that you can show it your less tech-savvy friends and warn them against the scam that this fake app is responsible for.
