Flickr users make the iPhone the most widely used camera

flickrcamerasaugust2009-450A new report is showing that the iPhone has become the most popular camera on Flickr. Of course, this will most likely be due in part to the iPhone now having been around for a few years, but also being available as the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and now the 3GS.
Anyway, this information is coming by way of the Camera Finder option on Flickr, and shows that the iPhone has recently passed the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and took the number one position. Following the XTi is the another model from Canon, the EOS Digital Rebel XSi. Finally, rounding out the top five is the Nikon D80 and the Canon EOS 40D.
Additionally, in terms of popularity as compared to other cameraphones, the iPhone is not only on top, but on top by a huge margin. Following the iPhone popularity in cameraphones is the Nokia N95, BlackBerry Storm 9530, Curve 8330 and the Sony Ericsson W580i.
Unfortunately, Flickr does not offer any timeline as to when this took place, but judging from the graph (seen below) it is fairly safe to assume it was recently because if you notice the yellow line for the iPhone has taken over the pink color for the XTi but yet the listing on the right still has the iPhone in the number two position.
Bottom line, as an iPhone users myself, I find that I am taking (and in turn uploading) more images, especially with the nicer camera that is on the iPhone 3GS.
