Google updated its Google Maps today, improving the app’s capabilities such as turn-by-turn direction ability. Google Maps will hereafter guide drivers with lane information through lane guidance feature added to the app. It will also be easier to take alternate routes while navigation due to this improvement.
While Google Maps have always aided the use of maps on an offline mode, there’s an improvement to this feature with the ‘save maps to use offline’ option inside the app, making it simpler to track saved routes. The app is added with various new filters to chose from, restaurant and venue selection based on hours, ratings, price, specific points of interest and more to save within the app.
While Google solved the problem of not being online, users can use maps offline by searching the desired areas and tap on its place info sheet, then select ‘Save map to use offline’ and give the destination a custom name, like ‘Europe Vacation’. To view saved map directions you need to sign-in, find offline maps and tap on the profile icon placed next to the search box in the top right corner, you will easily find scrollable saved maps, like the ‘Europe Vacation’.
In a handful of cities, Google Maps will merge Uber allowing users to compare an Uber drive option with transit and walking directions to help you know the faster option to reach your destination.
Google’s app updates are released and ready for download. Google Maps can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
