The sources of AppleInsider first look at hands-on with Waze’s having a popular navigation app running in Apple CarPlay — completed with incident reports and police alerts.
With a jump done before into the car, where one wants to change the layout of our CarPlay interface, puts Waze Front Center. Thus there are no “installing” Waze in CarPlay, downloaded the latest update appearing automatically.
With the change of layout set, visit Settings > General > CarPlay. Tap and hold on the Waze icon, drags to rearrange, as such on the Home screen. Once promoted Waze to our first screen, demoted with Apple Maps —cannot be removed from CarPlay —with the back ready for driving.
The app hence immediately familiar using their standard iOS app. With the interface panned around, where one uses a finger seems a bit sluggish. Thus there is an alternative to tapping the navigate button. This tends to happen at the lower right which allows arrows to pan around.
With the top left at home, a magnifying glass is where they situated at recent locations. Hence the star is home to favourites along with the mic. This not only allows to dictate one but like to go the microphone usage.
Thus one finds it not supported for Siri. One also has a third-party navigation app considered as the only real downside.
With Waze fashion, there is a pin of an orange type in the lower right, brings up the ability reporting incidents, be it a sighting of police where hazard in the road, an accident, or traffic insights.
One also view the reported incidents display on the map as per the drive as shown. Hence with other navigation standbys present, with the setting of speed limited, lane guidance, voice guidance, and ETA.
Hence with Apple support added for third-party navigation apps in CarPlay is with iOS 12.
With Waze, in the footsteps of Google Maps adds support for CarPlay in just last week. Other navigation apps pledged to support with their own unique features such as offline maps.
