Hearst Corp. has been announced as the second major publisher after Time Warner to make a deal with Apple to sell app subscriptions.
Time warner is the first major print publisher to settle an agreement with Apple over subscriptions sell of magazines through the iTunes Store.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
Hearst will make Esquire, Popular Mechanics and O, The Oprah Magazine available via in app subscriptions this July. All three will be priced at $19.99 for a yearly subscription, or $1.99 per issue.
“Over the course of recent talks with Apple, however, publishers have become more comfortable with the terms under which their titles will be sold in the App Store, according to people familiar with the talks.”
