How To Jailbreak iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 with Ac1dsn0w [TUTORIAL]

Ac1dsn0w

A new jailbreaking tool called Ac1dsn0w has been developed by Pwn Dev Team which can be used to jailbreak iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1. This tutorial explains the procedure of tethered jailbreak.

We want to warn our readers that Ac1dsn0w is new and in Beta number 1.Thus, bugs will be there. You should do this at your own risk. The more reliable jail breaking tools are Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze.

At this moment, Ac1dsn0w is available for Mac OS X right now.

Compatibility:
At the moment, this jailbreak tool works only with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch (4th Generation) and iPad 1. On the mentioned devices, you can make this tool work by following the procedure listed below.

STEP 1 – For any iOS 5 device or iOS 5.0.1 device, you can jailbreak using Ac1dsn0w when you have downloaded Ac1dsn0w application. You should download it from net. For the time being, it is available only for Mac OS X Lion and Snow Leopard. The size of application is 35 MB.

STEP 2 – After downloading the application, you should unzip the .zip file and drag the application to the applications folder in your Mac. After that open the application and window will look like the following picture. In this main window of Ac1dsn0w, you have the option to jailbreak, boot tethered, enter pwned DFU mode or exit recovery. If you show the console (provided you are an expert), it would show the device information and the current state of jailbreaking process. As a rookie, you might like to show the assistant that shows how to get into DFU mode. Assistant and Console modes can be seen.

STEP 4 – When the Jailbreak process is finished, You should click the “Tethered Boot” option to boot tethered after jail breaking. Here you need to put your device in DFU mode to this just like any other tethered device. The assistant would tell you when to click.

Now the iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1 has been jailbroken. You can install Semi-tether that would allow you the freedom to boot up your device with stock iOS features. However, Semi-tether will not grant you any features of jailbreak until you boot tethered again.
