The online sources that were first to report the plans of Apple to hold their iPad 3 event on 7 March 2012 are saying that the announcement will include 4G LTE networking.
We heard previously that 4G LTE would be coming to iOS in 2012. However, at that time, it was not said whether it would be there in iPad 3, or whether Apple would introduce it in iPhone 5, which according to rumors is going to be released in October 2012.
It seems like LTE is good to go. However, it remains to be seen how Apple will handle the many different 4G bands being used internationally. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) previously reported that AT&T and Verizon would be getting LTE-equipped iPads. However, WSJ did not say any word on carriers outside the US.
Verizon can gain most from an LTE iPad. At the memento, Verizon is stuck carrying an iPad 2 that gets up to 3mbps on EVDO Rev. A, well below the theoretical 14.4mbps offered on AT&T’s HSPA network.
Apple has not confirmed any of the speculations. The rumors of iPad 3 having quad-core processor have started again. The truth will be out in few hours.
