iPad 3 Launch Event Continues And Wraps Up (Second Hour)
Hey folks! We are back to cover the second hour of the San Francisco Media Event where the world can see the new iPad.

11:06 AM – Phil Schiller demonstrates LTE, Verizon, AT&T, Bell, Telus, and Rogers.
11:06 AM – Announcement comes from Apple that A5X Chip will be quad-core.
11:07 AM – Phil Schiller says, “Now if you remember, when 3G phones started showing up, they had different bands. Now the same thing is happening with LTE. So for example in the US, we’ll have two versions of the iPad, one for Verizon and one for AT&T. Around the world, they’ll roam on 3G. You’ll be able to use them as a personal hotspot.”
11:08 AM – Phil Schiller continues, “You may be thinking that a lot of these technologies consume a lot of power. So how does it do on battery life? The new iPad delivers the same as the iPad 2 in battery life.”
11:09 AM – Phil Schiller continues, “When you’re on 4G, 9 hours. Yet it remains incredibly thing. Just 9.4mm. And light, just 1.4lbs. The new iPad comes in black and white. You’re probably thinking ‘what’s it going to cost’? $499. 16GB $499, 32GB $599, 64GB $699.”
11:10 AM – A video demonstration on Retina display and high resolution that iPad 3 has starts playing.
11:18 AM – It is announced that pre-orders for iPad 3 start today.
11:18 AM – Autodesk shows their painting / sketching app. Sketchbook Ink.
11:19 AM – Phil is back.
11:24 AM – Apple shows Retina Display games and apps for new iPad.
11:27 AM – In new GarageBand, 4 iOS devices can “jam” in realtime.
11:28 AM – New updates to iMovie announced. The updates include advanced planning and editing tools.
11:30 AM – Phil showed a video shot and edited on the iPad. It was about a kid who dressed up like a princess.
11:31 AM – New updates for iPhotos announced and showcased. All features shown on screen.
11:42 AM – iOS 5.1 is announced.
11:43 AM – Presentation showcasing the features of iPhotos is over. Phil returns to the stage.
11:46 AM – Phil is talking about display that the new iPad has. He says, “This is the most advanced display you’ve ever seen.”
11:47 AM – Phil continues, “When we designed the new A5X chip, we gave it quad core graphics.” This means that there is quad-core GPU and dual-core CPU.
11:48 AM – Tegra 3 (not used in the iPad) has a 12 core GPU. A short video is shown.
11:49 AM – It is announced that iPad 2 will remain on sale.
11:50 AM – The price of iPad is $399.
11:50 AM – Tim Cook is back on stage.
11:51 AM – Tim Cook says, “The amazing new iPad, a new price for the iPad 2, and iLife. We have redefined once again the category once again.” A new ad for new iPad is shown.
11:52 AM – Tim Cook says, “When a screen becomes this good, it’s you and things you care about. I hope you can see why we believe the iPad has enormous potential and is the poster child of the post PC world. I’d like to thank all of the employees at Apple and everyone who supports us. Only Apple could deliver this kind of innovation in such a beautiful, integrated way. It’s what we love to do. It’s what we stand for. Across the year, you’re going to see a lot more of this kind of innovation.”
