On Monday 23 July 2012, Reuters reported that Apple would be switching to a new smaller dock connector in the upcoming iPhone 5.
According to earlier reports, the iPhone 5 is already in production according to supply chain sources.
Reuters reported that Apple switches to a new connector because of the ability then to move the headset jack to the bottom of the iPhone 5. Other reports over the last few months argued that the smaller dock connector is necessary to make room for a larger battery.
Whatever may the reason be, it seems certain that the smaller dock connector will come in the iPhone 5. This means that you need an adapter for your current iPhone docking accessories or you need to buy new ones.
