iPhone apps appreciated by White House in security contest
Apart from the success of iPhone 4S, now Apple has another feather in its cap. Looks like there is no turning back for Apple as the apps for iPhone 4S are being seen as some of the best apps for security.
This appreciation comes from non other than White House.
Yes! You heard it right! A security contest was sponsored by White House Office Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the US Department of health and human services. The theme of this contest was national challenge on the safety and emergency of young adults.
The two iPhone apps were selected as top best among 33 entries in “Apps against abuse technology challenge”.
The two winning apps were On Watch and Circle of 6.
On-Watch app has been designed to help young adults who are at the highest risk of sexual violence and dating abuse. This app connects them with trusted friends and family.
Circle of 6 is an app helps college students to stay connected. In Apple’s words, it is about “staying close, staying safe and preventing violence before it happens”. This name has been inspired by the fact that according to a study, one in six young women had faced sexual assault in college.
US Vice President Joe Biden has urged students to download and use these apps. Both of these apps would be available for free download in 2012.
