Master stacks in macOS Mojave

Introduction

WHAT ARE STACKS?

Stacks on the desktop is a group of files expands and collapse a single mouse click. With the help aiming to keep the desktop clutter-free, is grouped by Kind, Date Last Opened, Date Added, Date Modified, Date Created, or Tags. Hence with a new file, the desktop automatically adds filters. Hence an appropriate stack enabling the group of all files or stacks placed within the original position of the desktop.

HOW TO ENABLE STACKS IN MACOS MOJAVE?

Right-click the desktop selection with Use Stack where multiple eligible files with a desktop have the same type automatically groups in a stack. Use Stacks from the Finder menu bar enables stacks on the desktop.

HOW TO CHOOSE STACKS GETTING GROUPED?


When the stacks enable on the desktop, appears Group Stacks By right click. Use View of Group Stacks By in the Finder menu bar. The options followed are as follows.

  • Kind
  • Date Last Opened
  • Date Added
  • Date Modified
  • Date Created
  • Tags

HOW FOLDERS WORK WITH STACKS?

Unlike files, folders do not a group in stacks. Folders appear all of the stacks on a desktop.

HOW TO OPEN AND CLOSE STACKS?

Open a stack simply click with your cursor. As a stack opens up, all the files where a part of that appears below the main stack folder. Close a stack simply and click the stack folder icon.

HOW TO VIEW THE CONTENTS OF A STACK WITHOUT OPENING?

You scrub easily stacks seeing without expanding the stack on your desktop. The swipe left or right on the stack through contents a cursor. With swiping the stack upon display each file along with the file name. A particular file lands double-click with a press of spacebar for Quick Look of the file.

PERFORMING ACTIONS ON ALL FILES IN A STACK

A keyboard shortcut Command (?) + R stacks in all items in a stack.

HOW TO SHOW HOW MANY ITEMS ARE IN A STACK?

1. On the desktop, right-click and select Show View Options.
2. Click Show item info displayed within a stack.

HOW TO SORT ITEMS WITHIN STACKS?

1. Take a step of stacks sorting items.
2. Right click on the desktop and select Show View Options.
3. Click the drop-down menu next to the Sort By selection method. This sorts within individual stacks, including:

  • Name
  • Kind
  • Date Last Opened
  • Date Added
  • Date Modified
  • Date Created
  • Size
  • Tags

CONCLUSION

Stacks are a great way of tidy up quickly the desktop with few clicks. The features Mojave launches enabled plans to move forward. I always struggled with keeping my desktop which looks neat, with stacks making it easy.
