Motorola Wins Europe-wide Ban On The Sales Of iOS Devices
Motorola Mobility has scored a major victory in Germany against Apple in the patent suit. The Mannheim Regional Court has ruled against Apple in one of the patent infringement lawsuit that the Motorola filed against the Apple in April 2011.
Motorola’s counsel Quinn Emanuel had beaten Apple’s motion for a preliminary injunction against Samsung products in the United States. Now he is representing Motorola in an iCloud-related lawsuit which was filed on April Fools’ Day.
Motorola has won an injunction against Apple those Apple products that infringe Motorola’s wireless patents. Such products include original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, original iPad 3G and iPad 2 3G.
Given the fact that this ruling bans the sales of mentioned Apple products across Europe, there is a strong possibility that Apple would appeal against this verdict in Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court.
Last month, Motorola won an injunction against Apple in Germany over two patents. A bond of US $2.7 billion was to be imposed on Apple. However, court had approved a bond of hundred million euros ($ 134 Million).
