With the launch of New iPad, surprises would not stop.
Apple has announced that the owners of new iPad will have the option to purchase the AppleCare+ for iPad service plan.
Every iPad will be shipped with the usual one year hardware-related technical support and 90 days of expert telephone technical support.
The optional AppleCare+ for iPad will extend both of these support features to two years. Plus, it will also give the customer protection from accidental damage. This new plan is similar to the AppleCare+ plan that launched during the iPhone 4S release as it provided up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage. If the the iPad needs to be serviced because of accidental damage, then each of these incidents would be subject to a $49 fee.
“AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee.1 Whether you use your iPad with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues.2”
Items covered under warrantee are iPad, battery, any time capsule or AirPort device purchased with iPad, USB Cable and power adapter.
Apple also stated that in order to qualify for the AppleCare+ plan, it must be purchased within 30 days of the date the iPad was purchased. If you want wait to buy the plan, you can still pick up one plan within that 30 days by bringing your iPad to an Apple retail store for a Genius to inspect. You will be able to purchase the AppleCare+ plan if there is no pre-existing damage to your iPad.
AppleCare+ will be available very soon and its price is $99.
