Path Enhances Privacy And Addresses Security Concerns In Latest Update

Path App

Months ago, Social network Path came under great scrutiny after it was discovered that the app was uploading a user’s entire address book to Path’s servers. Path was hiding this fact from iOS users.

After a public apology, Path worked hard to remedy this issue and came up with a few enhancements to the way they handle user privacy. On Tuesday, 3 April 2012, Path rolled out an update to both its Android and iOS apps reflecting the changes. Path has assured users that they take their privacy seriously (or at least now they do). The privacy fiasco had created problems for Apple as well.

If you have been iffy about using Path since their privacy fiasco, you should be good to go with this latest update. Path has enhanced security by hashing user contact data so that it is anonymized. Many bugs have also been fixed.
