Setting Up A PIN Code On Your iPhone SIM [TUTORIAL]

Do you want to set up a PIN code on your iPhone’s SIM card to prevent things like issue with iMessage not de-activating on stolen iPhones? Are you concerned about security? Following procedure can help you take some concret step to enhance security.

STEP 1 – You should start with launching the Settings app.

STEP 2 – Scroll down and tap on Phone settings.

STEP 3 – Scroll down to the bottom and tap SIM PIN.

STEP 4 – Switch the SIM PIN option to ‘ON’.

Change SIM

STEP 5 – Enter the default PIN set by your carrier (AT&T is 1111, if you are on a different carrier check with them, or find from Google).

Change SIM

STEP 6 – Tap Change PIN.

STEP 7 – Enter the current (default) SIM PIN once again.

STEP 8 – Enter your own unique 4-digit PIN code.

Change SIM

You have set the PIN Code. If your iPhone gets lost or stolen, your SIM card will remain safe and secure and the new “owner” will not be able to send or receive iMessages. Nor he would be able to do anything else nefarious with your number.

However, if your iPhone does get lost or stolen, irrespective of PIN Code lock, you should call your carrier immediately to report it stolen and get it deactivated. The PIN code is a temporary solution. The deactivation from carrier is the permanent solution. The video at the top of this page shows you the execution of this procedure.
