Singapore 8,000 New Recruits to Equip with iPads

Defense Ministry of singapore is also following the footsteps of their counterpart like U.K, Australian and U.S in engaging their soldiers with iPad. Here, the new recruits will be getting iPads from November and includes all the three departments- Military, Air force and Navy.

The Singapore officials says that around 8,000 iPads will be hand over to new recruits and more iPads for other servicemen will also be issue from next year.

‘By exploiting the use of popular and current information and communications technology, we are able to harness our advantage of today’s technologically savvy servicemen.”

According to tuaw, ‘Armed with the iPad, new soldiers will be able to snap photos and videos of the battlefield, which can be uploaded to a central database. They can also communicate with officers and other soldiers via messaging. The Singapore Armed Forces wants to expand the iPad’s capabilities and is working with private contractors to create secure apps for military use.”

iPad is moving rapidly to all the sections of the society be it school children, professional, Medical workers, corporate sector, sports and now Military. iPad are used by U.K soldiers for combat training before their posting to Afghanistan. It is heard that Army App store is on the way.
