Honda is keen to incorporate Apple’s Siri Eyes Free Mode into its cars, notably the 2013 Accord, Acura RDX and Acura ILX.
This move will make it the second automaker after GM to add Apple’s proprietary voice-assistant software to its vehicles.
Siri Eyes free will be a dealer installed option in the car models, according to Honda, and will allow drivers to interact with their iPhone while never losing sight of the road. Honda has made the necessary tweaks to its software to allow Siri Eyes Free Mode integration into its Bluetooth Hands Free Link via the onboard microphone and speakers.
Honda and GM are just the early adopters. Toyota, Merecedes, BMW, Audi, Chrysler, Land Rover and Jaguar are soon expected to follow suit.
