Apple to manufacture smaller Sim card to match the standard of European Telecoms Standard Body ( ETSB). The intend Sim card is smaller then the present micro – Sim card used in iPhone and iPad. In this way Apple can make smaller, slim iPhone and iPad. Even mobile Operators like Orange are backing Apple to go ahead with the plan.
“We were quite happy to see last week that Apple has submitted a new requirement to (European telecoms standards body) ETSI for a smaller SIM form factor — smaller than the one that goes in iPhone 4 and iPad,” said Anne Bouverot, Orange’s head of mobile services.
The dimension of Apple intend Sim card is still not yet known.
So what do you think about the possibilities of future iPhones coming with a smaller SIM card slot.
“They have done that through the standardization route, through ETSI, with the sponsorship of some major mobile operators, Orange being one of them,” she told the Paris leg of the Reuters Global Technology Summit.
