Happy New Year! To ensure that your new year remains happy, you need to lead a healthy and cheerful life.
If your new year’s resolution is to stay healthy and fit, then the perfect new year gift for you is Gympact, a new iOS app that can give you a health with a pinch of some tough love when you visit the gym.
At the beginning of each week, you would have to set a goal for the number of times you will visit the gym. You should name a price that you are willing to pay for not meeting that goal. If you miss your goal, you pay the price. If you make it, then in that case you receive a portion of the cash collected from all the people who missed their goals. Gympact collects a 3% fee on this transaction.
This might motivate you and all users of Gympact to be a gym regular.
Gympact has been created by Harvard 2010 Graduates Yifan Zhang and Geoff Oberhofer. Zhang and Oberhofer first implemented their idea for pairing negative motivation and exercise with codes that users entered at the gym to verify attendance. They got a discount on their membership for signing up, and were charged a fee if they did not follow through. Zhang said that people in the pilot went to the gym 80% to 90% of the time they pledged.
