Lauren Powell, the widow of Late Steve Jobs, will manage a US $4.6 billion trust that contains 138 million shares of the Walt Disney Co. Steve Jobs had acquired these shares when he had sold Pixer in 2006.
The Disney shares that represent the majority of Jobs’ wealth (estimated to be US $7 billion) have been placed with this trust.
The trust is the largest shareholder of Disney, with a 7.7 percent stake in it.
Given the fact Powell is an active member of Teach for America and her history of active participation in non-profit activities, the speculations are rising that she would use a share of Trust’s portion in philanthropic work.
