IEEE Settle Standard for Wi-Fi With a 100km Range

IEEE has made known that it has launched the IEEE 802.22TM standard. IEEE 802.22 will offer broadband access to large regional areas around the globe and carry reliable and high-speed communication to under-served and un-served people.

The new standard for Wireless Regional Area Networks (WRANs) obtain benefit of the favorable transmission likes of VHF and UHT bands to offer broadband wireless access covering a large area up to the range of 100 Km i.e. from the transmitter. It is known that a single WRAN will offer a speed of 22Mbps per channel. The channel will not cause interference with reception of TV broadcast stations through using so-called white spaces between occupied channels.
