Really bad news for Apple! On 22 March 2012, Apple lost its appeal of a fine that was imposed in Italy in December regarding AppleCare extended warranty coverage for its products.
Italy’s anti-trust body has imposed a fine on Apple Inc, ordering the tech giant to pay a total of 900,000 euros for failing to adequately inform customers about their rights to product guarantees and assistance.
The authority said Apple Sales International, Apple Italia and Apple Retail Italia failed to properly inform customers that they were entitled to two years of free assistance under Italian law. Apple has not commented on this issue so far.
