TomTom was already a big player in digital mapping. Then it went and signed up to work with Apple on the new iOS maps app.
It seems that Apple features Avenir Typeface in iOS 6.
Bloomberg has reported that iOS 6 will have Yelp check-ins integrated with Apple’s in-house mapping solution. This will allow people to use built-in Maps app to let friends know about their location.
We reported earlier that Apple intended to abandon Google Maps, later this year. After all, Google earns its 2% revenue by its usage on iPhone and iPad.
Analyst Gene Munster from Piper Jaffray has written a new a note to investors. Munster has suggested that about 2% of Google’s annual revenue comes from the iPhone.
Apple had previously planned to break away from Google Maps and use its own technology for the native Maps app on iOS later this year. A new report says that this feature maybe announced at next week’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
