Though the new iPad (the third generation iPad which is also known iPad 3) is selling like hot cakes everywhere it has been released, Apple continues to advertise the iPad 2 in prime advertising real estate on top of the West 14th Street Apple Retail Store.
Apple had announced a discount of $100 on iPad 2 at the event in which they announced the launch of third generation iPad (known as The New iPad or iPad 3), last week. The New iPad going to be offered by a number of retailers including BestBuy and RadioShack.
While unveiling the new iPad, Apple announced it would drop the price of the 16GB iPad 2 to $399 with the Wi-Fi + 3G model discounted to $529. The start price of the new iPad is going to be $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $629 for the 16GB Wi-Fi + 4G model.
Even as Apple seem to be refraining from announcing when will the third generation iPad would be released and what would be its official name, evidence supporting the imminent announcement and release of iPad 3 continues to mount with many retailers reporting iPad 2 supply constraints.
