TileSpeak Mahjong by TileSpeak Software is an education app and you can defined the app as a tile matching game. In this app you can learn Chinese through casual gaming. TileSpeak Mahjong provides user to arrange 500 most frequently used chinese characters and created then into a puzzle game. Best way to learn chinese faster is to play the game more so that you will be exposed to chinese characters and also chinese speech.
When you start the app, you will be presented with two language Mandarin and Cantonese which you must select one language to start a game. In this app there are 36 tiles which is laid out in 4 illustration creating 144 playing pieces. The graphic in this app has nothing much to mention, even though provides a puzzle game to user lets us not forget that the main purpose of this app is to help non-chinese speaker to grab some chinese words.
You can say a gameplay or a method of going through this app is to select open tiles. Open tiles means an open side on its’s left or right and that is not covered by any other tile layer. After selecting open tiles, now try to match the other open tiles. Remember that the tiles is not necessary to be on the same row or layer to be matched.
A matching tiles must have a same symbol and pinyin (phonetic) which is written below each chinese character If a sound hitting the board twice indicates that the tile which you are attempting to match does not bear the same symbol and pinyin. Here, a tiles when matched the sound of mahjong poker chips jingle indicate a correct pairing.
You can also select shuffle option when there no open tiles are matchable but shuffling the tiles result in tiny scoring penalty. After all the tiles are matched , you will advance to next level, includes new symbol to memorize. Additionally the English form of the word will also display in green bar in upper left hand.
Now when your tiles are matched, associate the English word presented and learn the meaning of the symbol . Practice saying the word along with narrator attempting to mimic tone. Thats how one can learn chinese language through this app. But if you are planning to be fully literate then try joining Chinese learning course because the symbol in real world are mixed with other symbol to generate more difficult words or meaning when attempting to read Chinese newspaper or other Chinese prints. But overall the app is a great tool to start off learning Chinese language whether it is Mandarin or Cantonese for beginners.
