Apple’s annual refresh of its iPod is little more than a week away says a report from Brazilian news site MacMagazine. Citing a reliable source within apple, MacMagazine said that the unveiling of the next-generation iPods is between August 14-16.
For the last four years, Apple has held its iPod press events in early September, and is expected to do the same this year too. In the past, the company released new iPod models on an annual basis as early as March or April, except in 2005 when it released the iPod video as late as October.
Rumors about the next generation iPod Touch have been coming in over the past few weeks. The latest reports state the addition of the following features:
A front- and back-facing camera (FaceTime video chat)
Touch Screen display for iPod shuffle
An all new iPod Nano
All of these upgrades were made to this year’s iPhone as well. Besides the updates to the iPod Touch, rumors posted on site iLounge earlier this week said that there would be touch-screen display redesign for the iPod Shuffle, and a refreshed iPod Nano. iLounge also said that the 7-inch display version of the iPad is in development but that its release is likely to be later this year.
